HELP with News Paper ad...

Hi Guys was just wondering if any of you advertise in the local press at all ?
Im looking to run a couple of small ads on the run up to christmas and just wondered if you had any ideas what to put in it ? I cant afford a massive ad but one the size of a credit card is about the right price so any help would be appreciated. Obviously I want to be noticed but you cant put too much in an ad that size! any Ideas ????

what about an advertorial ?

more space for less money

you need a unique selling point

i.e. there ia a plumber near us who takes is slippers to your house on a job to save your floors damaged
