I'm considering going mobile around my salon job at the moment.

Do you have a written contract that contains any restrictions on working outside of the salon?
If not, your employer may still decide to terminate your employment if they feel that you are competing for the same clients. For instance, supposing a regular salon client asks you if you'd be willing to do her hair at her house next time for a reduced fee?
Generally, I would be ok with staff doing close family (mum, sister, husband) but not extended family or friends.

No I don't have a contract at all.
If I did the mobile, I would keep it completely separate from my salon job. There's also someone there who does mobile as well
