Hi Geeks,

I am doing an EN course and I have got to the stage where I just need to practise. I find myself doing one or two sets a day and my hand from holding the file so tight ( as still not confident ) is getting sore.
What I wanted to know is do any of you suffer from a repetative strain

but mainly on average how many sets of nails do you do in a day ?

Hi Geeks,

I find myself doing one or two sets a day and my hand from holding the file so tight ( as still not confident ) is getting sore. You need to relax your hand - hold the file firmly but there's no need to grip so hard your hand is sore.

There is technique to holding your file but unfortunatley learning from a dvd can't really correct it for you........

What I wanted to know is do any of you suffer from a repetative strain I don't but I do make sure I stretch my hand out between clients.

but mainly on average how many sets of nails do you do in a day ? I'm mobile and do on average 3 - 4 clients a day (rebalances and new sets). Salon based tech's will do more clients than me!

Hi Geeks,

I am doing an EN course and I have got to the stage where I just need to practise. I find myself doing one or two sets a day and my hand from holding the file so tight ( as still not confident ) is getting sore. you need to find a way to hold your file so your hand doesn't hurt at the end of the day. my hands are really weak and all, but I've never suffered from holding a file too tight. also make sure you use the right file/grit for what you have to do.
What I wanted to know is do any of you suffer from a repetative strain sometimes my shoulder hurts when I do a lot with an e-file... I tend to do un usual moves and it hurts... that's all.

but mainly on average how many sets of nails do you do in a day ? .
if I work in the salon, one per hour. which can make, 8 to 10 a day, depends on the salon I work with.
when it's me at my little place, due to the fact that I do some extreme nail arty sets, based on stilettos, wayyyy less lol. 3-4

If you are new to doing nails then the sitting position, the way you hold your arms, hands and head is new and you will naturally feel stiff and sore at the beginning.

As with everything with practice you will get more experienced and relaxed in doing the nails and you will then be able to lose the tension in your hands and back and get more comfortable and with that you will also notice that you are able to do a lot more sets per day without problems.

hi. I'm relatively new to the nail industry also (around 4 months now) and when I first started my thumb got so sore and my left arm went numb!! (I tink I was resting on a nerve in my elbow area) It was actually really bad... I went to the stationery store and got myself a gel arm rest and now use an ergonomic chair and I relax more. This seems to have fixed all my issues.

I do around 4/5 clients per day.

hope this helps you :)
