Hi everyone, this is my first message on this site so I'd be really grateful if you'd help a newbie out!

I am an ITEC qualified Beauty Therapist and have just completed the Creative Foundation L&P course.

As well as my kit of white & pink powders I purchased the shimmer collection as our tutor said they would be required in a salon environment.

My question is:- what are the shimmers for...? are they used instead of the white. Do you mix them with the white or with each other to create a tip?

I tried using them as a tip - they went on fine but when I buffed over them before oiling them they looked really naff........

What am I doing wrong.........?

Look forward to hearing back from you

Hi! You can use the shimmers alone, mixed in with the pink/white to customize the look of your clients 'forever french' or mixed in with the bold colors to really customize the tip. I really like the look of a black tip w/glitter or a deep red (mix red w/a bit of black) and some shimmer. It rocks!

If you go to the CND website and watch the custom blend video, Roxanne uses one of the shimmers on the second nail she does.

Have some fun and experiment with different mixtures. You'll love the ability to give your clients exactly what they want.

Best of luck to you! :)

Hi, thanks so much for replying to my message. Can I ask another question....? So, if I wanted to use the shimmer mixed with white for the tip would I overlay all zones with a clear acrylic then buff and finish as usual?

Thanks
Tracy

we saw these at the event and they are beautiful !!!....is one of them called "Dusting"...or something like that.....stunning. These can be mixed with any of your other brisa gels and they wont lose the sparkle...we saw it mixed with some of the colour gels to make the most amazing sparkly shimmering blue...

Hi Tracy, good question! I'm not 100% sure of the answer but do know when we did the shimmer overlays at the CND Roadshow, it was during a rebalance. There was already a regular custom blend on the nail, then we did a rebalance using the shimmers.

My best guess is that if the client wants the shimmer for a one time special occasion, you would lay down a thin coat of clear acrylic. If the shimmer is a look they are going to keep up, then I don't think the clear is necessary. I'm sure more experienced techs will have a more definitive answer for you.

Enjoy! :)

AWESOME! I didn't know you could mix these in with the Brisa gels. Now, I can't wait to experiment!

Thanks for that info! :)

Has anyone got these yet...?

I think there are shimmer gels and shimmer powders - there are 3 gels and about 6 powders - the shimmer powders used to be the Metro collection.

Hope this clarifies any confusion.
