Hi Geeks

Ive been having a lot of problems with lifting lately and cant think of anything im doing differently. Its very humid outside and I feel like Im having a hard time getting my ratio for the pink powder. Does the humidity effect set times/ratio??

The only other thing I can think of is my brush has been losing hairs so maybe its contaminated, is that possible??

Ill be picking up a new brush tomorrow. Im pretty upset as its just getting nice and busy and I know Im going to lose some clients.

One of my clients came by yesterday and over half had HORRIBLE lifting and them there were a few that were just fine:(

Any help/advice is greatly appreciated

:(:(:(

Your lifting is indeed due to mix ratio - namely working too wet.

All products are chemically designed to work at a specific temperature (usually 21 C)
Changes in season see the temperature and humidity change alot, so all of a sudden the technique you use to pick up your bead becomes inefficient

You need to do practise beads pretty much all the time, I personally do one before every client, just to see how the mix is reacting at the time. And then make adjustments for every application - mix ratio is a moving goal post and most techs 'assume' they are just doing it fine each time.

Brush losing hairs is not a sign of contamination - it simply means the bundle (or adhesive for cheaper brushes) is coming undone.
If to many are lost, it will not hold enough liquid and affect your mix. and a replacement is recommended.

Thanks for the reply. Its not a cheap brush but I think I will buy a new one just to be on the safe side.

Funny you say too wet because if anything I feel like they were going on dryer than usual or maybe setting faster, I dunno Im having a tough time since the heat has hit.

I wish there was education in Canada its very frustrating this is the only place I can turn to for answers:sad::sad: Id give my right arm for a 1 to 1 with someone..

Anyhoo thanks you very much i will start trying out ratios with my new brush.

Heat will indeed cause L&P to set much quicker, and most often I notice techs working far too wet as a sort of compensation....

Too dry and the product will have a much darker colour, and lifting will be nearly instant, as the product won't adhere right from the get go...

as mentioned in first reply, the ideal temp is 21 ish at all times... anything either side and you will find the product responds very differently.
