I trained in indian head massage a year ago and have always done them sitting on a chair. I have a client who would like it incorporated into a facial whilst lying down. Any tips on how client should be positioned?

I would miss out the back routine, and start off smoothing the shoulders down, do the shoulder, neck and arm work as normal, then continue with the scalp and face.

just have them lying down as you normally would for a facial.

I incorporate my facial part of IHM into most of my facials.

Thanks for your views. I think I'll give it a try this afternoon as you said and if I feel that I'm missing out too much then I'll insist they sit down in future! I think to do IHM justice sitting is the proper thing to do but some clients would rather lie down. I'll keep you posted. Thanks.

I tried laying the client face down at the beginning, and doing the back and shoulder work that way, then turned them over and did the rest of the treatment during the facial. Worked quite well - just depends if your client doesn't mind turning over during the treatment.
