For the past couple of years my scalp has been a constant source of annoyance.
I started noticing that I had alot of dandruff and it was so itchy I was convinced I had nits! Luckily that was not the case but my scalp continued to worsen to the point where it gets very sore. A couple of days after washing my hair it starts to hurt sometimes just putting my hand on my head hurts, like a bruise. My doctor said I have cradle cap but nothing he has perscribed (tar shampoo-yuck) has worked. I have tried so many remedies/shampoos/treatments/cider rinses etc but nothing has cured it, they only relieve the condition slightly. Cradle cap is caused by over productive oil glands, but my hair is dry, I don't get it?

best for the scalp problem that you describe is the Redken scalp soothing regime. most people get cradle cap from misguidedly using baby shampoo.

Hi, if your doctor has not been able to solve the problem, I would look up the qualified trichologist in your area. She will be able to help you and tell you exactly what to do and how to do it.
without seeing a scalp condition in person, it is very hard to say why your scalp is sore and itchy. If it has been going on that long and you already have tried lto so different things, then trichologist is your person to see.
They are specialised on scalp problems and have studied a scinece of scalp conditions in university, so you could in a way say that they are scalp docs ;)
