Hi Everyone,
I wonder if anyone with massage experience can help me.
I have a regular client who has been with me for a couple of years, she has a massage every couple of weeks (Full Body Swedish), a couple of months ago she began coming out in hives - nothing related to the massage as it had flared up two weeks after-. I cancelled her next appointment until she had spoken to the doctor and found out what was causing it. The doctor said it's fine probably just hormones, so I booked her back in and she's been back to her regular massages, she's had some mild symptoms again but is fine.
Anyway, she was due for a massage tomorrow and has just called me to ask if she is still ok to go ahead, the allergy has come back again and this time her tongue and mouth have swollen up as well.
I think this sounds a bit more serious so I've cancelled the appointment and told her to have a chat with the allergy specialist, who she is seeing next week.
She's happy with that and totally understands, but I can't help feel like I'm over-reacting. She is disappointed as she loves her treatments and I feel like I've had to let her down. Have I done the right thing? I'd just like to know what other people would do in this situation.
Thanks. xxx
