I've just had a call from a client who I saw before she went on holiday last week. She has fibreglass and because she was going on holiday I used a gel top coat to help protect her nail art. Anyway I didn't have my perma gloss with me ( gel designed to use as a top coat for acrylic and fibreglass) so I used my Balance gel top coat ( basic finish ). Anyway she rang me today to say that when she was sunning it they started to go tacky and she had to file to gel off. Why would the gel do this after it had cured? Is it because I should have used the perma gloss?

I've got a wedding booking in a couple of weeks and the brides getting married abroad and wants gel. Do you think it will happen again? I'll give NSI a ring tomorrow but just thought you guys may have some ideas

Hi

I use a UV Shield and found that some sun creams such as the really high factors for kids caused the nails to go sticky aswell. I have heard that its something the do with the UV ingredients in the creams which penetrate the skin and also cause the tacky feeling on the nails. I think though someone else may know different.

Thanks Shelley I didn't think of that. I better try and talk my client who's getting married abroad to have L & P

I would think the problem is that the gel you used was not made for the purpose for which you used it.

More than likely the nail art underneath was not completely dry when you applied the gel. This would make a sticky mess.

As to gels going sticky in the sun .... this is not likely to happen when you use the system as it was meant to be used. Bazillions of people wear gels on their holidays and do not have this problem. Use the appropriate gel for the job you are doing. Ordinary top coat finishing gels are not meant to be used over enamel or nail art. If they can be used for this purpose, your manufacturer will tell you on the bottle if they're smart!:)

I have used Powerseal top coat gel over nail enamel and nail art for loads of my clients, they find it makes their nail art etc last alot better on holiday and i have never had any reports that it goes sticky, i cannot comment on any other top coat gels, but this one has been fine!!
