Hi everyone,

What a fantastic forum this is! I have been browsing for a while and thought I'd sign up and see if you can offer me a little advice too please?

I am going to be starting a mobile Holistics business in the next few months and I am wondering if to add a few beauty treatments to my list of services. Friends and family have suggested lash and brow treatments, waxing, mani/pedicure and pamper parties. I am wondering what the reality is when it comes to making money from beauty treatments.
So my questions are:-

Which beauty services do you think are worth training in and offering?

Also would I be better taking a full time level 2 beauty course or, accredited short courses in each individual area?
I'd prefer short specialist courses due to family commitments but happy to do college if it's necessary.

Many thanks in advance,
Kelly xx

I would say do a full level 2 first followed by company specific training to the products you decide to work with.
You will cover the most ground quickly this way.

Good luck!

Thing is if you have 10 different treatments and 9 are the most popular and profitable, there's still a market for the 10th that a single therapist can make into a niche. I would def do the level 2 with lots of hands on practice, if you don't know which treatments you want to do.

Intimate Waxing without a doubt

Full nvq 2 & 3 training plus the additional courses you'd like to do after that. Good luck x

Going from what Gina Ballerina said, make sure you master basic waxing before you go onto intimate waxing x

Thankyou for the replies :)
Not sure I fancy intimate waxing but then again I was a nurse in a previous life so it's not like I haven't seen it all before  haha!

Does anyone have any thoughts on nails? I was talking with a friend and she wondered if it would be worthwhile when there are nail bars everywhere these days offering a cheap and fast service. I've never used one so I wouldn't know.

Hi there. Which holistic therapies do you offer? I'm qualified in l2 and l3 beauty inc massage as well as nails and makeup but am aiming to go down more of a holistic route with massage being my main focus. I'm also taking a course in meditation so I can include this with my treatments and also as a stand alone option. In terms of beauty treatments I will offer facials, manicures and pedicures as these can include massage for luxury versions.
I am however thinking about eventually training in lash extensions as it's something people return back for rather than having as just a one off which is the danger with holistic treatment and massage. Either that or eventually invest in microdermabrasion equipment and training xxx

How can you make an important business decision without trying treatments out first?

PamieD - I've never been to a nail bar because I don't need to but I'm not quite sure why that would mean I can't consider whether to train in and offer it as a service?

Sunflowerfi - Hi :) what you are doing sounds great and it sounds like you are thinking about things the way I am too, it's good to hear, means I must be on the right path!
I am doing a VTCT course in complementary therapies so will offer reflexology, aromatherapy and massage. Im also a reiki healer.
Good luck with your plans xxx

Shellac and waxing are my most popular treatments x

I don't offer many beauty treatments anymore I found that people weren't coming in for manicures and pedicures.
I mostly get booked for massage, reflexology and facials. I think waxing is good to train in and facials if you aren't already. x

I want to train in reflexology but can't seem to find a course xx

Spray tans and shellac are my most popular treatments x

Pregnancy massage, hot stone massage and gel polish is my most popular
