I really want to do a nail course and start working in a salon, maybe open up my own in the future, What is the best recognized nail course to do I wanted it to be to a level 3 standard. I have looked at a few but I am also a uni student so thought I would maybe do one in the summer.
Anyone got any suggestions? would be grateful

Thankyou

You'll need to do level 2 first.
Your local college should do accredited courses however they will be during term time.
Or you can train with a brand. CND, nail harmony, NSI etc run courses throughout the year.

I did my level 2 and 3 at college part time while I was at uni I personally wouldn't recommend it as it was a lot of hard work to get both sets of work done on time sometimes. Once I had completed we did some conversion courses and I went to CND and did all the others the college didn't arrange. Had I realised I could do my beginners with Creative to start I would of done that as their education is second to none same with the creative beauty group really good for education. Xx

Okay what about me doing the level 2 in the summer holidays? So Did you do level 2 and 3 and the cnd course? It all sounds so complicated! Thanks for the reply Xx

I did level 2 and 3 part time in the evenings and university in the day time full time. Which was super hard! I then did all of the CND conversion qualifications to be a CND nail tech. When I did my qualifications I didn't know a huge deal about brands etc until my first night at college doing my level 2 and Kay Pennington from sweet squared came into speak to us about CND and how lucky we were to use that particular brand.... Had I known what I know now I would of just gone straight to sweet squared (CND) and done my beginners qualification with them rather than my levels 2 and 3 at night school. If you could find a course in your summer break go for it! Hope that helps xx

oh okay, that definitely must have been a lot of pressure! so are you saying i'd be better off doing my level 2 and 3 with a brand rather than the normal course at colleges? also did you do any research before going onto these nail courses?, thankyou so much that has been really helpful xx

I literally walked into my local college and enrolled and was very lucky to be introduced to CND products. I knew about certain products and brands but didn't do any research other than looking at my local college courses. I would go to either sweet squared and find out my nearest training centre/ educator and do my beginners with them or go to creative beauty group and find my nearest training centre/ educators both companies/ bands are amazing. I now used brands from the creative beauty group and their education is phenomenal. If you look on sweet squared and creative beauty group you will be able to see all the courses they offer and what you learn on them and then you can make an informed decision about which route would fit you best and which brand you might want to use when you pass hope that help xx

so sorry for the late reply!, been busy with uni exams
I have have had a look on CND squared but there's something I'm just a bit confused about, the courses on CND squared are only 1/2 days and theres so many different ones for e.g. shellac beginners, cnd liquid and powder beginners? would I need to do all of these? how could this include level 2 and 3 which is taught at colleges? at my local college there is a course called nail enhancements which lasts 14 weeks part time and ive seen other courses such as nail techonology.. these courses seem to run a lot longer? wouldn't it be really expensive to do all these courses separately?, I think what I'm trying to say is do you do a beginner course and then specialise in any brand you like? sorry if I don't make sense and if ive confused you .. bless you thanks so much xx

Also how about nail apprenticeships? Do you think their any good?

I'm starting this course in Feb- http://www.sweetsquared.com/Education/Foundation/CND-LiquidPowder-Beginners the CND L+P beginners course. Its 6 days, but spread over about 6 weeks, as you do four consecutive days, then come back twice over about a month for the final two days and the final assessment. I can't advise you on level 2 and 3 courses, but I chose CND because they have the best reputation I have found, and I like the way their courses work and how you can advance your skills with them, but they're definitely not the cheapest.
I toyed with the idea of a nail tech course at a local college but I don't have a steady, regular job so can't guarantee a certain day/evening a week and as I have already done a couple of day courses, don't need to start completely with the in-depth basics and wanted a clearer direction of brands I wanted to use. Hope this kinda helps! x
