I just ordered some nail foils off line to do experimenting on my sisters nails but i never used them before, how exactly do they go on? are they rubbed onto the enhancements then covered in a top coat? cheers

you use foil adhesive wich is white paint it on , leave it for a bit then it will turn clear , place the foil over it shiney/patterned side up then remove, where the glue was it shuld stay , HTH

Are nail foils tricky to do? I've never thought to use them but i've been looking at the nail delights site and fancy giving them a go!

xx

Using MINX Gold and Silver lightning is by FAR the easiest way to get an amazing gold or silver mirror effect; a much better and more perfect effect than you will ever get with foils. Easier to apply and easier to remove without the use of any solvents or adhesive or top coats of any kind.

THis is why i am liking this....easy to remove...so i am checking out the day in Bournemouth on the 20th,and see it in action:)

I used to do foiling with another brand several years ago,but just found it fiddly, now i am quite patient,(as i love using fibre!)....but i could not get "that look" from it.

It has taken me a long time toget to grips with the concept of artistry with foiling....however i have clients who i think would appreciate it,so i will probably accomodate:!:

i am finding the foils very fiddly, a royal pain in the arse! time to save the pennies and buy a minx set!!!

Foils are a pain in the A!! Minx are a breeze in comparison PLUS the fact they last longer and the result looks better.

foils can be very simple if you get the tecnique right you just need to make sure the adhesive is put on smoothly and left to dry through completely, minx is a completely different product so not really a comparison

Minx is a completely different product and of course you can compare the two because Minx do foil effects! Only with Minx, the foil is perfect every time with no adhesive to apply and wait to dry, no fiddly foils creasing or tearing, no top coats to apply ... easy removal (less than a minute to remove all 10) and no need for solvents to remove them. Any nail tech using foils would LOVE the difference in the speed and ease of application compared to foils.

There is such a thing as 'new and improved' versions of things and Minx is definitely one of them.

oh i agree things need to move on and upwards and minx is a superior product without a doubt, but it does not always need to push out other products that still serve their purpose, i personly am not a tech and do use foil but not on a regular enough basis to go out and buy a minx kit, as it would not be worth the cost but i love with a passion my foils, and would not stop using them just beacause a new product came out, i have no intension of trying to stop people moving on

Offering an easy alternative to the poster of this thread is not "pushing out other products" .. it is offering an easier alternative.

Minx is instant, affordable nail art which is perfect and easy, for those who are or are not natural artists, to use, to apply and to SELL to their customers. Minx are only sold to professional nail technicians.

Technicians who have never offered nail art before are romping away with Minx and increasing their business potential and their salon revenue.

Suddenly technicians who were never confident to offer nail art services beyond the odd diamonté are applying perfect, classy looking nail art designs in the form of Minx -Veneers that their customers will pay for and that last for weeks.

There are still nail art products that offer effects that Minx does not .. so there is room for all.

I am a nail technician and I offered Minx in my salon. These are my findings. The Minx is great due to the silver and gold lightening effect however, the Minx are pre cut so if you have a client that has smaller or larger finger sometimes the sidewall will show. Minx can also peel at the tips very easy. Also, apply it with the high watt lamp isn't always fun either. As we know, they should be applied with the lamp.

I prefer the foils because I get complete coverage every time and if you do the foil adhesive on all ten fingers at once, the adhesive will dry by the time you put it up and get to the initial finger. The Silver Spectrum is just as shiney as the Silver Lightening.

Minx has taken away a few steps but for me not worth it. Nail foils also allow me to pamper my clients more with an actual manicure or pedicure instead of a dry treatment.

Just my opinion.

I hated doing foils - I don't even think the end "look" is that nice either.

The easiest way I found to do them, and get them to stick, is to apply the adhesive, wait until it was practically dry and then press down the foil onto the nail.

One of my technicians up the road here started doing Minx in her salon just 5 weeks ago. She told me yesterday she has added over 400.00 per week in minx services alone on toes. (they do about 20 per week) mmmmmmmmmmm lets see??? That is a potential of a cool 20,000.00 extra a year on her salon turnover!!! No one is doing that with foils, trust me. Or hand painted nail art either.

As always, there is the odd person that grouses about problems because they haven't applied the product correctly .... I've just had Samantha here for a week with her best friend Bev, both had Minx on their toes ... both sunbathed all day, were swimming ... were showering and going out and on the go .. guess what ? .. no one had a lifted edge ... they were gorgeous and admired everywhere they went. "Where can I get my toes done like that??" So my technician up the road will now have even more bookings than normal.

This is my opinion to we are all welcome to our own it's amazing how so many people hate foils but when you do them right they are stunning x

I would say the exact same thing for Minx!

I've done foils right :green:.. many many times .. and no one is saying or has said that they don't look nice. Just that Minx are far easier and also every bit as stunning. I also think that clients feel just as pampered (no one has complained so far :green:) I certainly would not offer foils FIRST now, having found Minx and after having so many thrilled clients who are wearing it. No one ever asked me for foils in anything like the numbers who are asking for Minxed toes. Those are my observations and that of many others.

I'm not sure why we are even debating the issue. No one is twisting anyones arm here. Just passing on an excellent business opportunity for your salon that should really not be ignored. Learn to do everything, I say. Why exclude a brilliant investment in a new and asked for service?
