CND yesterday unveiled a distinctive design for the Alexander Wang Fall/Winter 2013 Ready to Wear show. CND Co-founder Jan Arnold and the eponymous designer collaborated on artwork for looks appearing on the runway at The Cunard Building in New York City.
Jan Arnold is a pioneer in the nail and fashion industries, leading CND to integrate nail artistry into Cynthia Rowleys runway show in 1996. Since then, highly artistic, awesomely intricate, trend-setting manicures have been a staple at New York Fashion Week and around the world. CND collaborated with select designers this season, including Wang, to craft nails that extend and interpret each look as the fashion designer had envisioned with their first sketch.
CND created a time worn sand stone manicure on an androgynous length providing an urban vibe. CND color in Impossibly Plush was feathered with a fan brush from the sides toward the center. After sealing with CND Speedey Top Coat the shine was buffed with a CND Glossing Buffer giving the nail a natural eroded monochromatic look.
The CND and Alexander Wang partnership represents the intersection of fashion and beauty on an elevated level, said Arnold. Through sketches, sharing inspirational images, and thoughts, we created a unique, enigmatic nail look perfect for the runway, red carpet, or every day by using the various design elements.
Alexander Wang added, CND brought the vision and talent to create the perfect subtle nail design to complement the collection. We were able to work together to bring some of the textures seen in the fabrics into the nails.
Each runway season CND sets nail trends and provides Nail Professionals around the world with visual inspiration. Coupled with the companys commitment to serving the Nail Professional with innovative products, class-leading education and salon support, CND strives to advance the state of the industry in their 65 international markets and beyond.
We are nails, fashion, and beauty, just as our new tagline reads, Arnold continued. It was exciting to work with such a unique talent and we look forward to how his customer and ours interpret this look for themselveswhether they adopt the unique texture, color palette, length or shape, they will be on trend for Fall 2013!
