For a company that is famous for its red soles, originally painted with nail polish, the only surprise here is that they haven't launched a polish line before now. But, come August, you'll be able to match your nails to well, the soles of your feet, with Louboutin's new polish range.
The hero colour in the 30-shade collection will, of course, by Rouge Louboutin, inspired directly by the famous soles. Speaking to WWD.com, Louboutin said, "I am someone who likes objects," and you will have to like these nail polish objects a lot as they start retailing in the States at $50. The bottles are miniature works of art in themselves as the polish is encased in a bottom-weighted, pointy, calligraphy-inspired bottle with 16 facets.
It also makes it the most expensive polish you can buy - Tom Ford retails his at $32 - and marks the beginning of Louboutin's foray into the beauty industry. Rumour has it that a lipstick line will be next.
