hi im new on here and dont no if im asking a question in the right place but just wondering if anybody knows if i would get funding for college course cost as im 20 and a single parent but really want to become a nail technician. also does anybody no how much my kit is because on the college course website its says i will require a kit.please could somebody reply. sorry if i wrote this in the wrong place xx:lol:

Hi there, your profile doesn't say where you live but if you are in Scotland there is funding of I think up to £500 available through ILA Scotland for certain courses depending on your circumstances. Try their website for more info.

in england if it is a college as in teaches loads of different subjects you could get what they call fee remission and your kit payed for but usually only if the course is a full yr one

Hi, I'm also a single mum. I did my manicure / pedicure course at college one evening a week. The learner support fund paid for the course. Unfortunately they couldn't help with the cost of the nail technology course.

If you have no other qualifications i.e no NVQ I do believe the Adult Learning Grant could help you.

I dont know if they would pay for your kit but I know the government are paying for people with no qualifications to get their first NVQ. All you have to do is find your college course and give them a ring to see if your acceptable.

You will have to double check but here is the link Adult Learning Grant

Just giev them a ring Im sure they will be more than happy to answer your questions

P.S This is for college courses only not for paying for courses with CND unfortunatelly

hi, i dont know where abouts you are but if you are a local authority tennant, check with them. i am a council tennant, and through them i applied for an education grant of up to £400. i was awarded £395 so had to find very little in comparison to do my course. i am going with a trainer not a local college, but its worth looking into.
i found that local colleges only get funding help with recreational, or full time courses, the 10 week acrylic nail course with my college is £290 with kit included but you cant get help with the cost.
good luck xx
