Hi there, I am new to this forum and seeking help from any spray tanners out there. I want to set up tanning on the side at a cost of around £300-£350. I have been reading some of your posts and see that Tantrick and Sienna X are popular with you all. The only thing in my budget is the Tantrick starter kit for £225 which includes the Maximist Spraymate Full Mini Intro Starter Kit tantrick, tanning equipment, tanning kit,T200 [TTP104] - £225.00 : Wow Factor SprayTan, Beauty Products Spray Tan Wholesale . Would you recommend this, has anyone used it? Alternatively there is this machine on ebay New Spray tan machine on eBay (end time 08-Jul-09 08:47:32 BST). Which would you recommend, if any?

Thanks, Kelly

This is a case of buyer beware. Please please take a bit of time to read some threads on this forum (use the seach facility at the top) before buying anything off ebay. There are a lot of discussions on here regarding the maximist and also the T200 but also you will find information regarding machines that have been purchased from ebay aswell.

Obviously I cant speak about the machine you have seen on ebay but if you read some peoples experiences you will find that some of them are just fence spraying machines. It is upto you which machine you buy but you have some budget so I would go with a company that has a good reputation in the industry as it is really important to buy something fit for the job and if you make a mistake it could end up costing you a lot more to setup.

Have you already done your training as you will need to put that into your budget aswell, you can buy a startup including training from both companies you mentioned.

Hi Kelly,
the E bay item is also referred to as the little pig...and is made in China originally for blowing air into bubble baths ...some peeps on here have them and are happy however many are not

The spraymate is manufactured here in the UK by Earlex in conjunction with TBT in Florida specifically for the spray tan market.
HTH

Thank you ladies for your responses. My budget will also cover my training; if I went for the Tantrick starter kit that would be covered. Would you recommend this or, as I have seen from other threads, would it be better to go for the T200? Collin, I am shocked re the ebay machine

hi hun, i am looking to train with traintrick they seem to be fab, i know it seems alot of money when you are starting out but it is going to be your buisiness, if you buy this machine from ebay do you get a guarantee?? and do you know its def a spray tan machine ? a lot of people on there are not experienced in spray tanning they are just looking to sell what they can and make money it could end up costing you more in the long run if you buy it and then in 3 months time goes wrong and you have no one to go back to for a refund/exchange , i think your best option is to stick with tantrick and at least you know if you have any probs they will be there to help you

Karens points are very valid ones.

If you can stretch to it go for a T200 as this will cope with medium volume spray tans as well as parties which you really should look to get into as provides excellent revenue streams to therapists.

The T200 is available from many good suppliers.

If you have a tight budget the spray mate will get you started adequately...not the best machine for spray tan parties so you do need to consider this.

That said you could always upgrade at a future date and then retain the spray mate as a back up machine.

could be a most useful machine though if you use B&Q solutions..the antique oak is particularly a good colour and lasts for years and years and years...25 in fact :lol:

not to mention B & Q profit sharing! lol

Thanks girls your help is invaluable to me. LOl re ebay machine Collin, don't worry I will be giving that one a miss (I have entered a bid but they are going for much higher than my bid). I am a part time working mummy and just want this as a side job really, not so much a business (although it could come to this one day) but am considering parties so, like you say, it would be better to invest in something adequate for this. So if I can talk hubby into it, the T200 then but not sure he will go for it oooh decisions decisions. I just thought the starter kit was a good idea but want to go for the best option without wasting money! Sorry rambling a bit now x

I also did my training with tantricks a couple of weeks back, and was soo soo pleased. My trainer was so kind and helpful and the service you get as a whole from tantricks is fantastic. I have bought my booth and solutions from them, and will soon be getting the T200 as the machine was a dream to train with. I already gained a lot of confidence at the session and cannot wait to get started. Good luck and enjoy! xx

Thanks KittyCalls it is good to hear from someone who has done the course. So you used the T200 when training then? That's good to know. I am waiting for the course teacher to call me back and will ask if that is what they use too. Hope it goes well for you and you get your machine soon. Did you buy everything at the course itself? x

Yes my trainer used a T200. I was soo impressed with it. A little nervous to start as It thought 'this person is trusting me to spray her' but it was a great machine, no overspray and so easy to use. At the time of my training I didn't have enough money to order my machine as thats the most expensive, and I guess the most valuable. I made a mistake buying a machine from a seller elsewhere and they sold me a very bad imitation, so I would so recommend getting your machine from tantricks. they are there to follow up with any problems and also my trainer even offered to help me set the machine right. What great service! I bought my booth, solution, consulation cards etc so its all branded the same - you get free leaflets to help you with promotion and sale of retail items. So I will definately be getting the T200, It will last and give your clients a perfect tan. xx

Hi Ladies

I trained with Tantrick a few months ago and really enjoyed it. I purchased the start up kit which included the T200 and it was delivered to my trainers how, so I was able to train with it on my course which I thought was a great idea.

It is a great little machine. I have done 11 clients in one go and it coped very well.

The customer service from Tantrick is absolutely brilliant, I don't know where I would be without Collin and Britta.

I have just finished my training with Tantrick (about an hour ago!) and I am so excited! It was brilliant having one to one training, the trainer gave me helpful feedback and I can't wait for my kit to arrive tomorrow so I can practise some more. I have gone for the T200 from reading threads on here.

That's good to hear I think I am sold on Tantrick and the T200 although I have just spoken to someone from Sienna X so I am torn again now! Did you do the training in Gloucester (notice you are from Witshire!).

Did you manage to get the kit ordered at the training centre and did they make a charge for delivery?

My trainer ordered my kit for me as she had a better idea of what I needed to set up. Because the value was over £100 delivery was free.

I did my training with Tantrick but once I was trained up I decided to use both Tantrick and Sienna X solution which works pretty well for me and my clients love them both.

The trainer came to my house for 1 to 1 training. I paid a fuel charge but it was worth it because I didn't have the stress of driving to a new place and I could do the school run!
