(Newbie) Suntana vs St Tropez colour guide

I used Suntana for the first time last night, I am waiting on a sample from St Tropez. Do you have to hide yourself from the public for 4-6 hours due to the colour guide developing? I couldn't get a true perception of Suntana due to using it at night. I was wondering it St Tropez looked green/muddy whilst developing?
