Hi Geeks

I'm a nail tech who has just finished my second make up course and already I'm looking for a new venture.....it's funny how once we enter into the industry we get the bug to try new things!!

Anyway.....I'm at the very early stages of looking into hair extension courses but have learnt a few valuable lessons along my journey and as always on here is a good way to get sound advice from the people that know best ;)

What should I be looking for in a course, how many days minimum, how much should i set aside for course/kit for starters?? :)

Anything you feel is relevant i would really appreciate your help

Thanks in advance Geeks :)

Regarding hair extensions, prep in one in the most important bits. Cutting the natural hair to blend and understanding hair fully. I would recommend a hairdressing course first as your result will never be 100% if you can't offer a compleat service.
I own a salon and we specialise and were constantly correcting poor sets by non hairdressers. If its something you would seriously like to do I would start from the beginning and truly master the art of hair inside and out

I do agree I trained in extensions realised it wasn't the best move so training as a hairdresser... However, yes I don't no everything but I have corrected a few poor sets from hairdressers thinking they can fit because they are a hairdresser without any real training. Personally I think being a good technician relies on skills and knowledge that is up to you whether youd feel confident without being a hardresser. This is an ongoing battle I'd search more threads on the matter. I've had many strong opinions against being a non-hairdresser yet someone pointed out that tatina isn't a hairdresser (apparently, excuse me if I'm wrong). So there are arguments for and against. I don't want a heated debate just saying the fors and against! :) x
