Figures from the Forum of Private Business have revealed only one in five small companies is worried about the impact of today’s pre-election Budget.

The research organisation, whose partnership with the National Hairdressers’ Federation means a significant percentage of respondents were hair and beauty professionals, said little more than 22% are factoring the Budget into their business plans. It did cite, however, that many members were focused on day-to-day issues such as sales, turnover and cash flow.

“The things small firms are concerned with at the moment are the more pressing issues associated with running a business in a struggling economy,” confirms Forum’s research manager, Thomas Parry. “While I think there has been a noticeable increase in confidence over the past 12 months, things like cash flow, employment law and business rates are still at the forefront of our members’ minds.”

When forward planning for 2010, top of the list were sales and turnover, emerging as an issue for 77% of respondents; 71% said profitability was a key concern and 69% insisted their cash flows needed attention.

Sounds like a spot on analysis. They have imposed the same regulations on small companys as those for big business and the public sector.

Those of us that are doing ok, are doing it DESPITE the government, as they hinder us at every opportunity. We would benefit from having people in government who have actually run businesses.

In the event, the budget delivered very little to assist small business, so it was a completely wasted opportunity. Oh and the put **** up again. Bandits.

Small businesses can't have been too over-joyed by the latest budget. Suggestions contracts will be pro-actively given to small and medium sized businesses must mean they will have to revise their current procurement systems, that could take some time and at some cost.
