Hi

I wanted peoples opinions on the fine line between a pedicure and being a chiropidist. I always thought that a pedicure was supposed to be a nice pamper treatment that involved rehydrating the skin and dealing with slightly hard skin, and to make your feet look pretty! Or would you say it is more about making sure all the hard skin is removed and the nails are dealt with in detail and no soaking of the feet or creams involved! I experienced the later today and am now confused about the correct way!!!

and would you use a foot file or an electric file?

Maybe the above depends on how you were trained. I would be really interested to hear other peoples opinions.

Hi there! my pedicures consist of shaping toe nails, cuticle work, hard skin removal using foot scrub and a rasp, mask on both feet, massage then their choice of nail colour. (also using a foot bath) with a foot soak. Hope this helps:?: :D

I'm gonna jump to conclusions here and assume that you are English and English trained.......

I am too, and live in Cyprus. I have found exactly the same thing here. The difference is very blurred. I am actually in business with a chiropodist, and we keep our lines very clear cut. I perform my pedicures as I was trained, as you say, a pampering treat with small issues dealt with. I leave the chiropody side of it to my partner who is trained in that area.......

I had caused us no problems whatsoever in regards to stepping on one anothers toes (pardon the pun!) In fact we get a lot of clients that come to us both, to her for serious problems, then followed by myself for some pampering and to make them look pretty!

Chiropodists can't cut nails nicely, lol!! ( Sorry Susannah!!!!! :D )

Thanks Ladies, it must be the Greek way!

Hey Pheoebe_Cat - on another subject, who do you use for insurance, i'm really struggling to find a company?

Thanks

I don't actually have insurance...... This is a non litigatious country! They dig up the roads and don't cordon them off, if you fall in it's classed as your own stupid fault believe it or not! It's the complete opposite of the UK "blame culture", lol! So liability insurance is not available at all.

However, as Greece is part of the EU, I would imagine it would be different there, so I would keep trying to find an insurance company. Try asking in other beauty and hair salons... Good luck!
