Well the person you mention did not invent the shape she just claims she has  People have been doing this shape for as long as I have been around (which is a long time). It is not something you will do in the salon but more of a competition thing. Maybe on yourself for fun. If you do a search you will find it on here and possibly a video to explain it.

Klopotova is a Ukrainian nail technician, owner of one of the most respected schools in Ukraine, an international competition judge and international competition winner - would a person of this calibre make "claims" assuming that she was aware it had been done before?

Unfortunately, no-one else published the design before Klopotova - so she - and the Russian and Ukrainian magazines, plus all the nail techs in those countries, together with Germany and Poland where she's been invited to demonstrate it, thought that she had designed it first.

No doubt some-one, somewhere did it before, the world is a big place. It's just unfortunate that they didn't care to share it with anyone else.

The length used is of course up to the nail tech. Personally, I find it one of the most elegant nail shapes that exists.

Lighten up mate ... no one claimed oval nails as their own design .. they just are. That shape has been around forever and was even created without the use of 'pipes' but with good brush work. No one is taking any respect away from the lady ... I'm sure her school and she are wonderful as are so many of the Ukrainian technicians whose work I have seen. I've also seen many a nail tech claim things that simply because others have not, does not make them the originators. Have a great day.

Maybe the confusion is that the Pipe shape is not a simple oval. The nail is created on a form with 50% c-curve and the free-edge gradient made with careful use of the brush :) See below:

Now I've blown one of the SBS in our magazine. Luckily we have the Bridge shape in issue #2

Thanks for the photo .. I do understand that the pipe is not a simple oval nail I was just using the example of the oval nail as being something that no one has claimed that they innovated the design ... Maybe I should if no one else has!
