Im really interested in learning pregnancy massage, Im qualified to NVQ & CG Level III so can do a course straight away.

I wanted to ask if anyone else had done one and if they thought it was worthwhile. I wondered if their was much call for this massage, my thinking is that a lot of salons wont touch a pregnant woman and so it might be a bit of niche market for me, Im mobile as well which I thought would also help.

What do you think?

This can easily become so. Epecially if you are interested in taking it one step further and becoming a doula. Pregnant women will build a relationship with you during the pregnancy and I know someone who then is available while the woman is in labour and gives her a massage after giving birth.

I do pregancy massage and there is a call for it, but honestly wouldn't say how much. I see a lot of pregnant ladies in the workplace, less come to the clinic, but I don't specifically promote pregancy massage so that may be why.

I've always thought this would be a great business to get into. You can offer to do free talks and demo's at Antenatal classes and show birth partners safe basic techniques to use. And one of the great things about pregnant women is that they tend to know more pregnant women!

When I have looked into this I think one of the best providers of suitable training is Shiatsu and massage for pregnancy: Well Mother

I did the well mother one 3 years ago and it's paid me back a thousand times over...it's tough going and you have a good few case studies to do afterwards, so be prepared, it takes time.

I used to rent a room in a holistic healing centre and they held 3 pregnancy yoga classes a week so I had a constant stream of clients.

I've just opened my own treatment space which specialises in maternity treatments...so I would say that, yes, there's a demand for pregnancy massage.
