Hi everyone

I'm just finishing my level 2 beauty therapy and am wanting to venture into makeup. What kind of price would you think is acceptable to charge for a trial and makeup on day for prom / bridal?

I've been trying to research it but a lot of Therapists around my area will provide a price on request so don't feel I can ask and not sure what the going rate is for someone newly qualified - would appreciate your replies xx

I would Google salons in your county instead and see what they are charging or go into a few local salons and just ask what they charge.

I wouldn't look at makeup artists rates per say, as we tend to charge a higher price as we specialise in this area and mostly work Mobile.

If Google prices and aim to be on or with people in your area. Some people only charge £30 which I consider cheap. People are pricing themselves out the market in my opinion x

Depends what brand you using aswell and for level of experience and your area.
I use Mac and they give you a guideline on what to charge for things aswell as your level of experience.

I agree with lady murasaki there is quite big diff between the make up taught at our beauty qualification and actual make up school. I did an additional year of just make up on top of my beauty itec qualification , I also think for experience you could volunteer at plays and things like that to gain experience. And also gets your name out there as someone who does make up. Network network network!

Good luck make up is very exciting and fun.

You so right! And £30 even converted to my country currency is cheap for mua.

I'm in the north east and there are some poorly trained/skilled people who are undercutting experienced artists and charging say £20 or £25 inc lashes. It's driving everyone's prices down. Which is crazy! X
