hi
hope you dont mind me asking you lovely makeup artists ..
what your bridal makeup kit contains? ie. how many of each item
are there any colours, brands, products that you tend to use over and over again?
are there any colours products that are a complete waste of money?
what are the most essential brushes?
and what sort of case do you use?
i have completed a foundation make up course, and plan to practice for a good few months (hence me requiring a kit) before taking further specialist training in bridal and special occasion makeup
thank you in advance

Personally, I don't recommend sticking to any one brand eg. Mac, Bobbi Brown. I prefer to have a kit with a variety of excellent professional and non professional products. If they are good and do the job, then go for it IMO.

For example, Bourjois Eye Shadows are not pro products, but they have pretty shades which are quite versatile. They are made by Channel, so you are getting a good quality product. I also have products from Beauty Republica as they do foundations to cover different skin tones including Oriental, Asian and African. I like the clinique Eye Primers (not available at the mo as they are re-packaging them) but they do give eye shadows their staying power. And I love Clarins Macara fix. It is a translucent mascara which waterproofs any non waterproof mascara.

Hope this helps.

I love MAC but also use alot of Sephora, smashbox, stila and Benefit.

Macs eyeshadows as well as stila are fab for photo work so great for brides too. Smashbox primers are great. Sephora does great kits of eyeshadows, excellent brushes and great primers and fixers. Benefit have to love the eyeliners, concealers, mascaras and the she laq make up kit.

Saw some fab makeup at the beauty show today such as paula dorf.

You also want to check out trish mcevoy as well.

If its just brides then keep your kit simple with long lasting make up and delicate greys, pinks, browns etc. Buy good lipstick and mascara that stays put.

If you want to crack the photo industry then do try to use MAC as most photographers prefer it as the pigments show up well in pictures, however Barry M and Gosh pigments also seem really vivid too but if the photographer asks what brands you use MAC is often what they want to hear.

Smashbox is best for hotdays or studio/TV work as its designed to not 'melt'.
