:irked: Hi Gekks,I have a holistic level 2 vtct qualification amongst others and we covered reflex zone as part of the course-they didnt run the level3 reflexology the following year. So now ive started to investigate what I need to do to be a 'full reflexologist' it now seems Im pretty much going to have to retrain. The woman at VTCT said what I have covered is for relaxation only really but when we were in college we used to note out of balance zones and relate to what areas of the body, now she is saying I shouldn't be doing it really as not enough experience/qualification. I dont understand why they run it then-seems pointless if its not really a professional aspect more of an introduction? My problem is I have seen an AOR private year long reflexology course costing £1,400 would you cover the same in uni for example as they are both aor approved or does uni cover more?? . Plus how can I advertise what I do have- foot massage? or reflex zone? It just confuses people trying to explain im not a full reflexologist, even reflexologists i know have said they are the same thing and that why are colleges putting out courses with incomplete type therapies! Also where (private/college) did you train and for how long, as I have a preference for long courses to gain experience, anyone got any info? Many thanks x

I trained with ITEC, if you go on their website then the places they teach reflexology local to you will come up, it was 17 weeks if I remember rightly but can't be sure as it was a while ago... As for advertising what you can already do, I would say something along the lines of a luxury foot massage incorporating the reflex zones to aid relaxation. HTH x

thanks caz- i like the idea for the wording. Think it will still get people asking 'is it reflexology' whats the difference. Ive been told by vtct to say genral relaxation, Im not qualified to be specific or deal with specific conditions clients may have. many thanks, always good to get an outside opinion x x

To be honest any reflexologist would be on dodgy ground to say they are going to help with specific conditions. Although I'm a qualified reflexologist I'd certainly never claim this!

I would agree with Martin, I'm a reflexologist but would not claim it can help or cure treatments/ailments.

Might be worth your while adding in a description to mention the difference between your treatment and reflexology so clients know what the treatment is.

You could also possibly have a luxury package with a paraffin foot treatment or foot mask if you are qualified to do these. Makes a nice add on to reflexology or a foot massage :)

hi kirsty, thanks for your reply. I too agree with Martin, didnt word myself very well. What I mean is, some reflexologists offer help to people with fertility issues/cancer patients. What I ve been told is thta Im not qualified to a high enough standard or have enough experience. My reflex zone is for a relaxation but I can identify where there is possible imbalanc eof the zones. It s confusing, as its more than a foot massage but not full reflexology:irked: sure il think of something by end of day x
