Hi All

I was wondering if you would take the time to let me know what you think about the following please:-

Do you think that you would be more likely to use an accountant if they specialised in the health and beauty sector? And what for?

Many thanks and I look forward to your comments.

Nope, sorry to be so blunt but my accountant is great and she does everything from salons to builders etc... as long as they know their job which she does and the client knows what they are doing (which I hope I do) then everything should be fine.

Hope that helps

Thanks Cesalon,

Personally being pretty new at being self employed I think I would lean towards someone with a health and beauty background than someone who didn't as they might know a few hints and tips to help the business financially than a 'normal' accountant.

my 2 penneth worth anyway

Thanks Muddi x

Possibly, especially if they advertised as such. I would expect them to have a good working knowledge of the industry, for instance knowing the types of expenses that could be claimed and how to value them, particularly if mobile.

I would also expect them to be able to give advice, particularly on increasing revenue.

I know a bookkeeper who specialised in salons, she's excellent and very successful. Word gets around and she has built quite a reputation. Obviously she doesn't only do salons, but I think that's her speciality.

Thanks Sarah

Thats really useful
