Hi, I've read the various posts on here about sanitisation and have a few more Qs which I can't find answers to.

I am washing my tools and files in soapy water, then putting my tools in a jar of barbacide for 10mins then rinsing and allowing them to air dry on couch roll. I will then spray them prior to use with nail and file spray from Capital. this correct? Just wondered what you all do and what spray you favour? I saw that Barbacide are bringing out their own file and tool spray soon. I know some people favour Mundo.

Do you use rubber gloves when rinsing them after they've been in the barbacide to avoid contact with your skin?

Buffers and files...These can't be properly sanitised so I was intending on washing and spraying them and keeping a file for each client. What about buffers? Is it ok to wash then spray these?

Do you use separate tools and files for clients feet if you are doing both hands and feet or do you use the same ones?

Where do you keep your tools/files after cleaning etc? Are there specialist tins available?

When seeing one client straight after another, what do you do? Just spray the tools or use multiple sets?

Thanks in advance for your help/tips.

Buffers can't be sanitized because they are porous and in the US you have to throw away after each use. Files however can be sanitized depending on the brand and may be reused. I have 3/4 sets of implements (nipper, pusher, clipper) away from my work station in a tool holder that seals and is closed marked sanitized tools with barbacide in it. I bring a sanitized set to my work desk with each client. I don't use gloves to get out my tools. My sanitizing box has a tray that lifts up when you open it

[emoji818]️ Yes, and yes for Mundo products which are excellent.

Do you use rubber gloves when rinsing them after they've been in the barbacide to avoid contact with your skin?

[emoji818]️ No, not necessary. I always wash and sanitise my hands before handling clean tools though.

Buffers and files...These can't be properly sanitised so I was intending on washing and spraying them and keeping a file for each client. What about buffers? Is it ok to wash then spray these?

[emoji818]️ Files and buffers wash & sanitise with Mundo. No need to keep for each client.

Do you use separate tools and files for clients feet if you are doing both hands and feet or do you use the same ones?

[emoji818]️ Never mix hands and feet. Always use separate tools to avoid any cross contamination. I use metal files only for toe nails which I sterilise in machine after use. Alternatively if you dont have steriliser, Cuccio do disposable nail files. Never take risks with toe nails as contraindications not always visible.

Where do you keep your tools/files after cleaning etc? Are there specialist tins available?

[emoji818]️ I use a plastic boxes from my supplier (separate for mani and pedi) only ever place clean dry tools in it.

When seeing one client straight after another, what do you do? Just spray the tools or use multiple sets?

[emoji818]️ Absolutely use a new set of everything per client.

Thanks in advance for your help/tips.

Realise I didn't use quote/reply function properly! Hope you can see my answers OK though!

Just came across this thread and thought it was very informative.

When you say you wash your files...do you put them in water and 'wash' them?
How do they not break down? Aren't they just paper on wood/foam?

I wash them meaning I scrub the entire surface with a nail brush that has soap on it then rinse with water. I then immerse in barbacide for 20 mins or spray completely with barbacide. I let dry completely usually about an hour. Then use. In order for the file not to break down I take a clean towel and get rid of most of the excess sanitizer then leave to dry. Hth

I would say it's enough to just spray your nail files with a sanitiser spray. X
