Hi guys , I am a mobile hairdresser and currently do self assessment tax return . I have a very busy work life and just wanted advice on what you mobiles tend to do re tax , do you fund it better to do yourself or do you use an accountant , thanks Sally x

Depends on how complicated your system is. If you earn below the tax threshold it can be relatively easy to work out yourself. Definitely phone hmrc because they are really helpful.

As a sole trader, you should find it fairly easy to do your own books. Incomings, outgoings and whatever's left is yours. If it's over about £11,000 you'll pay tax on it. Rather than an accountant you could get a bookkeeper to check things over for you.
