Hi all

Was wandering if anyone could help clarify what the difference is? I was trained to use 3 layers of resin sprayed with activator spray (after each layer) but have seen some kits advertised with a gel resin included and a brush on activator. What's the difference and would the gel be just as strong??

Thanks in advance for your comments.

All it means is that the resin in this system is thicker than that which you have used before. It is no different chemically from any other ordinary resin just made thicker.

You need a thin resin for the best bond and to make the fiber disappear and then use the thicker resin for quicker building. Strength is the same. Resin is not cross linked so it does not make the strongest nails, but they are strong enough for most clients. Nails made of resin also yellow faster and break down more quickly as they age.

Remember to wipe your brush religiously after you have used it to spread the gel resin or you will have a stick instead of a brush.

Thanks for that....so do I apply my first layer of resin and activate as normal and then use the thicker consistency gel resin as my 2nd layer and activate with brush on resin and then 3rd layer of normal resin and activate or do you just use the thicker consistency product for all layers?? Might sound stupid but am getting a little confused about when you use what.

I thought I had explained it above.

PREP the nail
Apply first layer of thin resin for your bonder layer (I don't activate this as it dries instantly on its own)
Apply mesh
Apply another layer of thin resin to make disappear (activate)
apply thicker layer of gel resin and use brush on activator.
Finish

I see you have not filled in your profile. Please do .. it helps us all to help you. Normally I don't offer help to those who don't help me to know what training they have had. What training have you actually had?

Hi,

I personally just love the brush on system as there's no extra vapours from the spray. The result is also smoother so less filing.
