Hi There

My name is Jasmin I am 22 and new to the Beauty industry. I am currently training with the White rose school of Beauty to gain the ITEC Diploma for Beauty Specialists (Fingers Crossed).


I decided to train within the industry because I have an 18 month old daughter and wanted to train within something that is flexible around her, i'm a true girly girl love pampering myself and i'm very interested in different beauty techniques. Also I am very business minded and dedicated to anything i put my mind to so would much rather run my own business as apposed to working for someone, However if the opportunity did arise to work within a salon I would welcome this as I am aware I need to gain experience to excel within the industry. I am in two minds as to either go mobile or rent a room until my daughter is older and at nursery then I would love take it on full time maybe open my own salon or teach once i have enough experience! Now the intro is over with.....

Hi Jasmin,

Since I qualified in 2004 I worked in a few salons to gain experience.
I gave birth 4 months ago and just started up my own mobile business as its the most flexible way for me to look after my son and I dont have to spend money on childcare.

Are you enjoying the course?

I would recommend working in a salon for a few years to gain experiance. You will learn from more experianced therapists. College is great but you just learn the basics. Also a lot of salons send you on training courses and pay for them. There are a lot of people doing what we do so a lot of competition out there. So the more you can do the more employable you are and the better you are at your treatments and client care the more successful you will be.
