Hey guys, I'm on the hair geek forum but just wanted to pop over and ask about this. Apparently I have spoon nails, and I have had acrylic tips done which lasted a week or 10days, and gel overlays (when I grew my nails) but they only lasted a couple of days. I try to be very careful with them, but they just don't seem to be worth getting done if they are going to come off. My nails are quite brittle and they peel, I am trying to look after them but thre's always a couple that always break so I have to keep them all quite short. Are there any kind of tips/nails that I could get done that would last on my nails do you think? Or is there any product you can recommend? My salon recently changed over to Jessica Nails, but I have never tried any of their products, as basically I wanted to ask you guys first as my boss could sell snow to the eskimos LOL thanks x

As far as I know, Jessica do not make any enhancement products and certainly not tips.

You type of nails ARE a big challenge to any nail technician. And what you have to know and understand is that because of the shape and the stresses on this type of nail, you will need a new full set every 3 months or so.

The trick for your nail technician is to remove ALL the free edge of your nails before applying the tips. She should use GelBond adhesive which is a flexible adhesive and which will fill any gap as the tip is applied at a slight downward angel to compensate for the 'dip' in your nail bed.

Doing these things will give you a set that will last until the length of your natural nails makes it necessary to remove the length and start again. Length is your enemy as it only exaggerates the problem and increases the upward stress on the nails.

Thank-you for your reply, thats very helpful indeed!
And sorry my post was hard to understand, I meant products to help with peeling and brittleness, I hadn't had any sleep and my post kinda all rolled into one! Thanks so much x

hi, im having an absolute nightmare at the min with one of my long term clients. she has spoon shape nails, which she knows are difficult to maintain. i do get her to get a new set once every three months. everytime she comes to me, even if the nails r only a new set, after the first two weeks there is some heavy yellowing on the nail. she is a non smoker but i have pointed out to her that they are lifting slightly at the sides and water is getting in and possibly yellowing them. i just really want to do my best on her nails and besides i dont want her to go about with yellow nails then i get embarassed cuz they dont look good. im not really using a great l and p i know, its just like salon systems or something but i have another client and hers never yellow and she keeps hers on for 3 weeks to a month. i really need help with this. any suggestions would be great. thank you.
