Hi, I don’t post on here often and I e come over from the hair side
But I really need some advice. My skin is just so terrible with sore spots and I’ve been struggling for well over a year now. I’ve been to the drs and nothing has helped stop these damn things turning up!
I’ve been to see beauty therapists but all they do is recommend their skin range or some treatment they want to sell me.

Is there anyone who has any advice at all on how I can combat these....it’s really getting me down :(

If you search through posts regarding Acne you will find quite a lot of information.
I have been there and know how you feel, and let's face it we can hardly hide away from clients can we?
Look for the advice from your gp is the first thing. Try another from your surgery if you are getting nowhere with the first, and then ask for a referral to a dermatologist if the second is also a let down.
Treatment may eventually lead to Roaccutane, but only after exhausting other avenues.
Topical anti biotics, the contraceptive pill that blocks androgenic hormones - not sure of the name or if it is still manufactured.
I used to get galvanic facials and high frequency facial too and it did help to deep cleanse the sebaceous glands and the ozone produced with the high frequency had a germicidal effect. So there are some facials that do help.
Enzyme peels are good to keep the skin surface as free from dead skin and will help with healing, and keeps the pores unblocked.

Search through the acne posts there's loads of info on them.
Hope it helps.

I'm a strong believer that what you put on your skin every day can make the biggest difference. If you came to my salon I'd certainly be recommending my products because I've done lots of research and believe that the range we use can truly change your skin.
There's a big 'however'.
Acne is the hardest skin condition to treat well. We would do a full consultation followed by recommendations. We also encourage communication so we would invite you back within about 3 weeks to see how you're getting on. We would also recommend in salon treatments to support your homecare. It's not all about money. We often treat for free when someone's skin is particularly stubborn.

Do try salons specialising in skin. They should look at your diet, make up and the skincare you're currently using.

Good luck

Hi Rosie r
I’m going through the exact same , I never suffered with acne until I hit 30 and m chin an jawline are constantly getting acne and cysts , I’ve spent so much money on dermatologist and skin care , I didn’t get anywhere , I’m vegan too so it’s not my food as in dairy as that can upset your skin due to the hormones in them , if you are consuming dairy I would stop that as it plays a big part in your skin also sugar to as it just causes note inflammation, I thought about going on a pill called Yasmin as it’s specifically for women who break out but I got declined for any birth control because I suffer with migraines , I was so down as I thought that would be my answer as the places where I get my acne is on the hormonal areas but I had tried vitamins , medical grades skin care which I’m still on called ZO but nothing works I’m still getting them I’m so embarrassed by it aN it has knocked my confidence so much , so I know Exactly where your coming from , try an research the areas of where your spots are forming like the Chinese face mapping maybe changing a few things might help , I hope we both find a way to get rid of them soon x

Hi kelly,
thankyou for your courteous reply , but I no longer suffer with acne at my ripe old age ha ha. I was replying to hair passion in the hope of offering support and my personal experience and the experience of my clients' acne troubles.
My acne had a massive outbreak at 28, with cysts like you and the androgen blocking pill Diane worked for me. However I also develped migraines so had to stop.
Aromatherapy, high frequency treatments were great and of course was recommended as much sunlight as I could ...not the demon it is now of course. I regret sunning myself as I have early skin cancers occuring as a result. No spots though , but i'd rather a spot than skin cancer anyday!
best of luck to you and hairpassion

Awwww I’m sorry to hear that , I go on the sunbed to try and dry them out which I shouldn’t , I hope they have caught it early enough to help you cancer is awful my Nan has it I hope your ok

I am vigilant and see a dermatologist if I have new areas of slightly rough actinic keratosis. Feeling delicately with fingers identifies them. Forehead/sides of my face seem to be the most common place on me for spotting them. Early liquid nitrogen blasts when the lesion is still small are the best thing for me at the moment. However sometimes they just disappear on ther own if I am totaly hat and factor 50 conscious.
I had Bowen's disease identified last year... quite a shock as this is deffo early cancer, just before it becomes a squamous cell carcinoma.
My dad (83) has just had the chemo therapy cream on his full forehead and a big basal call carcinoma surgically removed from his nose. So treatment is out there, but spotting early is key.
I was particularly pleased at having nagged one of my ladies to seek an opinion from the doctor, and he said it was nothing. Due to my constant nagging she said to him that my beautician refuses to treat her unless she gets a referral to dermatology. I mean it was nearly black, and was squareish in shape!! ABCD are the key factors in identifying any mole that can be suspect.
She had a malignant melanoma in situ - a very early stage. She still had massive amount of tissue removed ( it was on her shin) After diagnosis and treatment a bottle of champagne and flowers arrived sent by her husband as she was so pleased to have her life back.
She had the best christmas ever !
I know I have wandered way off the topic, but thankyou for you warm wishes , i am ok, but you must stay away from sunbeds.
Look up skin cancer , there are courses aimed at giving greater understanding of the many forms and leaflets to help too. My knowledge is from past experience and ongoing things with my own dad.
