Hi there,

Im just starting out as a Mobile Nail Tech and was looknig for any tips and advise to help me along,

Ive been looking into Shellac and Minx what do you think is best for Mobile? Do you keep App books? Best ways to advetise business? do you take your own towells, table, chairs etc? Where to buy best glitters/ cracked ice etc?

Any feedback will be greatly appriciated

Hi,
the best bit of advice that i can think to give you, is dont be too soft. When i first started mobile, i would give soooo many freebies away, without even realising at first, a bit of nail art here, a bit of cuticle oil there, i was actually losing, rather than gaining in the beginning.
I was only young, and it can be intimidating at first, going into peoples houses, especially if they have there friends etc around, oh, and get some good insurance, you could try salon gold?
Make sure you keep professional at all times, you can sometimes become friends with your clients, but try not to become too laid-back with them, and lose your professional edge.
And sont be afraid to ask them to keep ther kids/pets away from your working area(one of my pet hates!)
And most of all, enjoy! : )
all the best Kate x

Hi Kate

I too am mobile and have been doing it for about 6 years.

I take a manicure table but no chairs (most people have dining room chairs), foot spa and I always take my own towels.

I am waiting for Shellac to come back into stock but will definetely invest in that, havent tried Minx as most of my clients are more mature so don't really go for anything too fancy.

I keep all my appointments in a diary at home (so hubby knows where I am in the evenings) and in my phone which I always have with me. I always make a note of name and address and contact number of new customers in my diary (just in case).

Hope this helps

Becky

I keep three "train cases" in two different sizes. The largest one is for natural nails and pedis, then the two smaller ones are: one for gel services and the other of acrylic and all else. I take my own folding table, saddle stool, towels & table lamp. I also take a roll of plastic drop cloth to lay down under the area I will be working. Helps with clean up after pedis and it protects the clients floors just in case there is a spill. The reason for the 3 different cases is so I can throw all 3 in the car when I am on the road, but only take in the one that I need.
I also have clear rules that I stick to concerning kids/pets in the home, paying in advance, scheduled times, special trips, etc.
HTH!
