Hello everyone, this is my post :)
What a fantastic site for everyone to share tips and experience!

anyway, my question is : ive been working on a chair rental basis for the past 2 and a bit years, and went straight from college to this. built up a fantastic clientle in a short amount of time which is great :) but i feel as if i have not had any senior styilst guidance as we are all self employed.
ive been on 2 courses at the loreal academy:colour keys and colour change. i feel confident in all the technical side of loreal now so that is not the problem - i havent had any complaints as yet, but am starting to feel abit like im sticking to the same techniques eg highlighting etc... all the courses i can seem to find are either way to advanced for me or way too unadvanced.!

can anyone out there recommend any courses you have been on after a similar about of time being qualified as me and are they worth it??

i just feel like i have been teaching myself sometimes!

what do you mean by a course thats 'way too advanced' for you?

get yourself on some matrix course you'll love it, its innovative. Because you've already done l'oreal, id recommend to not stick with one training academy, as you will notice different creative ways with different colour houses, ie wella, paul mitchell, toni n guy(beware its very generic) etc

Just a little tip, save aside money each year so this is your piggy bank to staying relevant and ot all goes towards training, its an investment in you so to speak!

I think you'll become more confident in your abilities once you expand your knowledge, plus look at youtube videos, magazines, this website for a massive support and guidence! Then you wont feel like your teaching yourself, you'll be passing it on! Good luck xoxo

Constantly change brand training. While I was in college I went to 6 different salons for experience, every one of these places gave me different tips and methods, which I have blended to make my own which suits me best. If I stayed in the same place all the way through I would only know 2 methods (the salons and college's) which although being very good, didn't suit me 100%.
Xoxo

Thanks for all replies... I will look into the matrix courses. I think I can get too set on looking into loreal ones just because I use their colour line! Someone asked what do I mean by too advanced .. I mean some seem like I would get left behind with people attending that are colour specialists or senior stylists etc .
