What age should a client be to have a spray tan? If they are under the age is it a case of having a parent present?

Finally if someone is pregnant should this be a problem?

Thanks x

Best thing to do is ask your insurance company. I am with Salon Gold and they just said there was no age limit, but required parental consent if under 16. Youngest client I have had was 15.
With regards to pregnancy, I was told that sometimes the hormones can cause the tan to go patchy - especially in the first 3 months.
Some people prefer not to tan clients in the first 3mths just in case anything goes wrong with the pregnancy and they are blamed for it. Although it is extremely unlikely the tan would be the cause.
HTH,

There's a lot of debate about this one. Simply phone your solution supplier and your insurance company and ask their advice. If either or both say no, then you must not do it.

excellent advise already given

you need tobe over 16 for tanning. i am pregnant myself and recently did a spray tannning course with sun labs but as already said i would just advice clients that the tan might not turn out as best as it should - (now that i am pregnant i find that manual tan and spray tans sometimes dont take to my skin at all)

You don't necessarily need to be over 16 for tanning. Lots of younger girls are tanned for dancing, cheerleading, beauty pageants, proms etc. It is worth checking your individual insurance companies requirements though to ensure you are covered.

I've sprayed ladies all the way through their pregnancies with no problems at all.
I've sprayed in the first trimester too and i always tell them that their hormones could affect the outcome of their tan. Not had one who has had a patchy tan yet.
What i would say though, is to make sure their is adequate ventilation. I did have one pregnant client pass out on me mid tan
She was suffering with low blood pressure though so it could have happened with anyone.
I spray 14 and 15 year olds regularly. You just need to get parental consent. It's a bit defficult asking them to be present whilst spraying as usually their daughters don't really want them in there. I get the parents to sign the client card to say they have agreed to the tan.

My worry with this is that you would be with a minor who is in a state of undress in private, I would feel uncomfortable without the parent present even if they faced the other way, just to protect myself from any misinterpretation of the situation!
