Hi
I have recently started my VTCT in Nail Technology and wondered what sort of ventilation, if any, other mobile nail technicians use and where they buy the systems from. I have a mobile manicure table which I will be using but obviously this does not have an inbuilt ventilation system.
Thanks

Hi I was going to ask the same question on here so would be interested to hear some advice please as I am hoping to do my course as well but not sure how my husband will put up with the smell when I practice at home and also when I go to clients houses.:)

I am mobile and I don't have an extraction ventilation system and it doesn't cause me a problem. Mobile is different to being in a salon (or home salon) because I rarely do more than 1 nail service at a time, so am not sitting in dust for hours on end.

I work very smartly so as not to generate odour and I use a clean towel for each client. Those 2 things combined with the fact I then drive to another clients house mean I get fresh air and a change of position in between.

hth's

There does not have to be a strong smell. This is a myth. If there is then you are not working along with the rules to stop it.

You know, it is so easy to minimise the odour to practically nothing that I can never understand what all the fuss is about! If you are getting allot of odour or complaints about odour ..... do the following.

1. Quit wiping the monomer out of your brush on the paper! Wipe on a pad that is damp with ScrbFresh instead and there will be virtually no odour.

2. Always cover your dappen dish immediately after use.

3. Put all used paper and wipes in a lined metal container and empty frequently.

4. Transfer all monomer to the dappen dish with a pipette/dropper.

5. Follow manufacturers guidelines and install an extraction ventilation system if working in a static position.

Just doing these things will virtually eliminate odour in your working area.

When I say I work smart - I do exactly what Geeg says above...... It works, honest!!
