Hi everyone, As some of you may know I am hopefully going to be taking over 2 beauty rooms in a hairdressers and originally was going to leave facials off my treatment list, purely because I want to try to keep my start up costs low. I was also going to leave make up off my treatments. (However, I fear I would be making a BIG mistake as facials are popular for most people on here, also working in a hairdressers I was hoping to work with them to produce a bridal package. i.e hair, make-up & nails.)

A friend suggested signing with Virgin Vie and using their skincare & make-up range within my salon. That way I can retail the products also.

I have used Virgin Vie products myself occasionally and find the range good but do u think it is too common now. i.e. in my area there are lots of virgin vie consultants. Salons around me mostly use Dermalogica, fairly high end brand. Im worried Virgin Vie just wont compare. Am I even allowed to use Virgin Vie in a salon?!?

Any advice would be great! xx

Hi there

I was a manager with Virgin Vie and yes you would be able to use it in a salon and display it there. You would not be able to display it in a window though. You need to be aware as well that this company has gone through major changes recently, main change is that there was a management buy-out as Richard Branson sold the company. The 'Virgin' name has now been lost so they are now known as 'Vie at Home'. It is personal choice but I don't think it has the same ring to it.

I changed over to a Swedish company called Oriflame. They have excellent products, good range of different quality and pricing to suit everyone and regular brochures with special offers every month. If I was honest,it really surprised me at first as to just how good these products are. I have been using their products for a while now both in and out of my salon. Clients love it and retail sales have gone mad!

PM me if you want some more details, I would be happy to help you with this. You can certainly earn more money for doing nothing really!!

Good luck with whatever you choose to do.

Love

I'm going to put my pennies worth in here. I used to be a Virgin Vie consultant and also considered using the facial products to get my business up and running as money was tight and I already had the products in stock.

Here are my personal thoughts;
After doing some research, I found that people in general, don't see VV as a professional brand. Nice, yes but high end, no. If I was going to have a treatment facial and pay for it, I would want premium products to be used.

Personally, I don't think VV have enough of a range to be prescriptive for treating various skin conditions. They have products for senstive skin, dull, lifeless and tired skin, ageing skin etc....... but not enough to treat individual skin problems of which there can be many. I have trained with Germaine de Capuccini and their range is vast to cater for very specific needs.

Then there is the price. VV is very affordable, but you get what you pay for IMHO. As a retailer, your mark up price is small and therefore not much profit compared to other pro brands.

Many geeks on this forum use Eve Taylor products for which the start up costs are not huge and they speak highly of the products.

Hope this helps.

I really appreciate the comments. My concerns have been confirmed so I will take a look at other reccomendations. I have been reccomended Susan Molyneux also... any users?? x

Hi Alexa,

I use Monu, I have done for a little while now and I find the products produce great results. The start up costs are really quite low in comparison to the bigger brands, I started off with a salon kit for around £500 and this came with free training and all of the point of sales bits I needed too. In my opinion, their customer service is great and the training courses really helped me to gain confidence in the products when I started out.

Hope this helps!

Good luck with it all!

Hi Hunbun,

I did decide to go with Monu as i was also really impressed with their customer service and products. I have the same starter kit as you and am having my first 2 days training this coming monday and tuesday. Im very excited as I am really proud of the product and want to do well with it!!

Good to hear other Monu users are happy with their skincare choice also!
