What type of fire extinguisher?

I currently have a powder fire extinguisher in my hair salon, which I was advised to have. when I came to asking a company to service it a year later I have been told that i shouldn't have a powder extinguisher in a salon.
Apparently I should have a water extinguisher and a c02 extinguisher.
Which type do others tend to have in a hair salon please?

A dry powder fire extinguisher should be fine for a salon. That will extinguish all types of fires apart from Class F (deep fat fryers etc.).

The company who gave you that advise could well be trying to rip you off with false information. Maybe get a second opinion from a different company?
