Hi there everyone:),

I've been wadding through the internet looking for the best skin care program to use daily, and every site says something different, and I find myself not really knowing what to do...

At the moment I use Witch hazel as my moisturiser and cleanser; every other day I use their Foaming Face Wash and then there Shine Control Day moisturiser in the morning and their Night Treatment Gel before I go to bed. But I’m not really sure what I’m using is the best for my skin, and whether I should be including a toner, exfoliate or sunscreen? Or are there any better high street products out their that I’m ignorant off and should be using instead?

I would be so grateful if anyone could give me a bit more education on what I should be doing to my skin, and any specific high street products or skin care regime that you recommend/advise

(I have pretty clear, oil-free skin, but without the aid of products, my skin becomes pretty unclear and my forehead especially breaks out in spots)

Thanks very much:)

You need to cleanse, tone, moisturise. This should be done in the morning and before you go to bed. Eye gel should be used in the day and eye cream for the night.
For day time moisturiser I would recommend you use something with spf in it,even through the winter months. Then you want a lovely rich moisturiser for bed time as this is when the skin repairs it's self. Exfoliators and masks are good too, but your skin type/conditions will depend on how often you use these.
I would recommend you go to a salon and have a face map. Your therapist will look closely at your skin and decide the right products for you.
To be honest I would scrap the which hazel. You should be using good professional products. People will tell you different as it is personal preference but what works for them may not work for you.

Hey, thanks so much for your advice:),

So I use the eye cream and eye gel on top of the normal daily moisturiser? And by professional products what kind of brands do you mean?
May I also ask, should I be cleansing/toning/moistrising every single day, or just every other day?

thanks xx

I recommend specific regimens based on the patient’s skin color (fair, mid or dark), texture (thin or thick), sensitivity (easily irritated or not) and other medical issues such as rosacea, eczema or psoriasis.
For most people, I recommend cleansing morning and evening, application of antioxidants following this, application of sun protection in the morning and of moisturizers and repair ingredients in the evening.
In addition, I would add retinol or a retinoid product a few times per week and I also like to have my patients exfoliate with a home microdermabrasion system that I use.

I would use the eye product just on it's own and apply the moisturiser to the rest of your skin around it. Don't forget your neck and chest!
My fav products are Dermalogica.
Cleanse tone and moisturise every day, morning and night hun. Dermaloigca's products are really easy and quick to use and you don't even have to wipe their toner off.
But I would defo go and see a therapist to learn a bit more about your skin in order to be getting the right products for you xxx
Prevention is better than cure!

thank you all for your effort and great comments, its fantastic to get some real advice from some proffesionals:D

il take a look round for some Dermalogica products and see if i can find retional/retinoid/antioxidant products.

very helpful, thanks xx

You should go to a reputable salon and get your skin assessed and they will recommend a routine that will suit your skin type.
I, personally never use a toner. I find that toners can dry the skin and if you use a good enough cleanser then there shouldn't be any need to use a toner. That's just my routine though :)
