I'm trying to get in a part time stylist.

I've said that it'll be £5 a day for the chair. And then 60/40.
For that, they get, the space, heating, electrics, water, electrical items, products, tea, coffees, towels, card machine, phone, use of an online booking system.

Most places round here are 50/50 split plus use of products. Or 60/40. I know it obviously depends on area.

Everywhere else doesn't seem to actually do self employed. (Don't get to choose price/product/days. Have to request days off/holidays.) They do it all as if the stylist is employed without having to pay them holiday/sickness/minimum wage.

The last couple of people I spoke to said that 60/40 to me seems high.
I think it's reasonable, especially if they're an established stylist.

Do you think I'm being unreasonable?

As far as I'm aware you can't charge a rent fee & a commission. It's either.

Ooh really?
I'll have another look into that.
Thanks.

I think I'll be best to call HMRC.

I rent a chair - I just pay a set fee of 450 a month for as many or as little days as I like. I buy my own hair products but she supplies towels shampoo and takes all of my booking who call the salon.

I find hairdressers work better this way there's no arguing over money everyone knows where they stand.
