Hi geeks

Just wanted to clear this up. Was not long working in a beauty salon and most of the girls there were not qualified in things like massage and Brazilians and Hollywoods, and was carrying out treatments in the salon on clients.

Wandered how these salons can get away with this? And wether this happens in most salons working without a qualification for certain treatments?

I'm no waxer, (hair geek) but I know Hollywoods and Brazilians are a specialist waxing service - cue Kim Lawless...

For any of our services right across the board, if you haven't had the correct certificated training you can not be insured to do those treatments.

How have they gotten away with it? They've been lucky! If something goes wrong, they will get the ass sued off them and not a leg to stand on at a cost of more than what the training cost In the first place :)

That's what am saying. But the manager would just let you copy each other, or one of the girls would teach you once to do a treatment then you do the treatment on a client :/
I know that's wrong so wandered if there was any laws in place for this as I think it shouldn't be allowed at all.

More luck than judgement here. Poor.

This is a horrible situation that really upsets me. I have been told some alarming stories from clients about how they've been treated in salons and have often had clients make comments about the way I do things - things I consider to be minimum standard, such as wearing surgical gloves and providing tissues and wipes for them!

The lack of qualifications should be picked up by the local borough during a licensing inspection, but as we all know, many boroughs don't bother with this they're just happy to take your money.
