How much eyelash extension glue to use?

Hi, wonder if anyone could help? I've been doing eyelash extensions for a few months now and i am finding it really hard to make my full sets look "full enough". They look ok when the client is led down however when they sit up they never look full enough, however I am isolating all lashes that I can see. I think my problem is that I may be using too much glue per set and they do look abit clumpy so any extra lashes are getting caught up in all the glue. How much glue do you generally use for a full set?

Use only 1-2mm at the base of the natural lash only
Once you have lashed all lashes you are unable to create any more volume

Lashes always look fuller when the eye is closed as it scrunches in on itself drawing lashes together but when the eye opens it stretches
