Traumatic wax experience

Hi all. I've had the worst wax experience of my life today! I had a client in for a Brazilian. She has had one before but not for ages, and she wanted more removed this time. She usually has quite a wide strip left right down, but this time wanted the area immediately above the top of her vagina removed. I removed everything else and then put wax across the top that she wanted removed. I found this quite awkward as I only usually do this as part of a Hollywood. Anyway, I found I couldn't pull the wax off! It was awful! Poor girl, I think I may have permanently traumatised her. I tried putting a tab on to pull but the wax just got thicker and I couldn't get a good pull. It's put me off waxing for life. I honestly thought I'd have to cut it off. Please can someone give me some advice so I never have to put anyone through that again! I am fully qualified in warm and hot wax (although you wouldn't have thought so today) :-( x

I can't really picture what you mean, sorry. Is it hot wax and where was the end that you were trying to lift?

If it was hot wax,would the wax set ? If it wasn't setting was your room warm ?
How did you get it out in the end ?

It was hot wax and had set fine but I hadn't left enough of a tail. Tried to add a tail afterwards but the square of wax just got thicker. Then I panicked! I finally got it off by just getting a bit at a time but it was awful for the client. The area I'm talking about is the bottom of the strip above the top of the clitoral hood? Does that make sense? :-/

Oh, and the end I was trying to lift was just to the side of the strip. X

Right ok I get you now. I've never had that happen but anytime I have to go over that area I still take the wax quite far down, over the labia so I'm not fiddling about near the hood.
Did you use a little oil before applying the wax?
If I'm struggling to release the end I sometimes use an edge of the previous bit of wax I've removed, just press it on to the end you want to lift and it helps lift it.

Outback organic do an AMAZING hot wax! The wax sets and the top cost is shiny and you can actually use another section of wax that has set to put shiny side to shiny side to create a bond and new leaver exactly for situations like this

If this happens I would generally put a splodge of wax on the lower end of wax you've already applied, then drag it down over the lumpy bumpy bits, (medical jargon!), then draw away to the side, almost across to the leg. So, I would end up with a 2" tail of new wax with a lap over the old. That way, the end of the wax is away from the delicate bits.
When it has set a little I would press on the overlap just briefly but firmly to ensure a good stick. so you can then flick up the end and pull whilst stretching with the other hand. Hths x

Thanks for your replies everyone. I use Berodins and have done an intimate waxing course. Berodins also allows me to use the shiny side to form a tab, but on this occasion the tab broke off, making the wax even thinker and harder to remove! Taking on board your advice, I think next time I'll just make sure my original tab is longer and over/to the side of the labia. Thanks everyone! xx

It's nothing to do with which wax you use and it's happened to us all at one time or another so try not to stress.

When you added the extra wax to make the strip longer and move it onto bald skin, you maybe could have left it longer to set so that it was stronger. You won't do that again

Noooooo! Never be beaten. These challenges are what make us great at what we do. Clients are not like in the video's.

While on this subject does anyone find the hair at the top of the labia/bottom of mons pubis stronger rooted and takes a bit more removing? I always find clients find this area quite painful is it something I'm doing? I think strip 2 is generally more painful but hope I haven't forgotten something from training!

Yes I think it's sometimes stronger hair there. That strip is always the most painful.

I've had this problem a few times in this weather and just added a bit more wax and waited longer to make sure it's set properly. I panicked a bit the first time but now I just try and be patient and do another bit somewhere else while I'm waiting. I also add a bit of blue cleanser on a pad to help it set as per Jack. Don't beat yourself up, sticky situations happen! I had one easy peasy Hollywood last night and one that wasn't so easy and there were lots if little short hairs that I had to tweeze. Got to take the rough with the smooth. X

One client this week (was her second wax with me) said tonight how much better the wax seemed this time. I have learnt to be a bit more patient too as was trying to take the strips off too soon and the cleanser trick really does work. I trained with kim in February and starting to feel a lot more confident now specially as I seem to be getting those clients that i had a hard time with returning for second and third bookings so i really couldn't have been that bad 😃

If you put some of the pre wax cleanser over the hot wax it will set quicker 😃
