Yes they are freehand. I do my roses by doing a rough circle of cake pop, then once cured put a dot of a darker pink, I used tutti frutti, then using a sharp dotting tool swirl it around to make the petals. I then hand painted a few extra bits.

They're mega, so detailed and much better than my ones! Will have to practice more!

My first attempts at the vintage roses! What ya think?ImageUploadedBySalonGeek1392240055.499884.jpg

I am loving this post. I am able to create some pretty detailed nail art, using, stamps, foils, pigments etc. But one area I am 'okay' in, is hand painting. I can do the basics, but nothing spectacular.
I would like to post a BIG hats off to those hand painters out there that are so VERY talented. I am enjoying the Kath Kidston/Beatrix Potter themed nails. Keep up the good work and keep on inspiring us. Thank you.

Sorry, by pigment (pigment powder) I mean cnd Additives (or other brands if you use them). Dotting tools are great. It's my brush/painting skills that need improving.

I put down a coat of Clearly Pink Shellac and cured. After that, I used Tinsel Toast and used a brush to carve out the heart then cured, then top coat and cure.

Tonight's attempt ready for early Valentine's Dinner tomorrow!

Ahh no I don't use them! Just freehand painting, gems, 3d decorations and one stroke (new to the last one)! Then going to do the gold leaf stuff when I can get hold of the stuff
