Getting over the hurdles of building clientele

Those first few years of starting out are the pits! But like the others have said, it is a slow time for now. Just keep practicing your craft. I found taking before and after pictures of nails you've done and posting to social media is a wonderful visual selling point. Young Nails also has a lot...

    LE Zippy or Kupa Passport

I have the Kupa Passport and I like it a lot. It's compact, the battery charge is great, and usually Kupa runs great sales on their website. I've never used the LE Zippy, but saw it used by an instructor at a nail class. From the looks of it, it seemed comparable to Kupa.

    Have I missed my chance?

I'd give it another go. It's better to try again and know than not to and wonder the rest of your life wondering "what if". If it's alright may I make a gel polish brand suggestion? I've always had good luck with Young Nails.

    Saying goodbye to clients

I've been a nail tech for 12 years and, as much as I love doing it, I've decided to close my business at the end of the year and walk away from the beauty industry for awhile. I'm leaving mainly due to stress, feeling unappreciated, and feeling like a majority of my clientele are toxic...

What system do you use for gels?

I've tried Young Nails, Gelish, Brisa, Light Elegance, IBD, and OPI. Out of all of those I highly recommend Young Nails followed VERY closely by Light Elegance. Both are great companies with excellent products.

    Efile

I can't help with training, but as far as brands I use Kupa MP Passport and it works very well. It's portable so all I have to do is charge it at the end of the day and don't need to worry about power cords. Young Nails also just released a new efile that is digital, but you have to have a...

    Product loyalty?

Does anyone ever feel like they should use most if not all of a particular company's product? Or just use what works for you? For example, I like using Shellac base and top, Gelish structure gel, Young Nails primer and LED lamp, Light Elegance remover and cleanser, so on and so on. I've never...

    What to wear?

The salon I work at is pretty laid back. Mostly I just wear nice jeans, and blouse, and my black apron.

    Spa pedicure range?

I use SmartSpa by Zoya. My clients rave over the White Tea scent. It's very clean smelling with just an undertone of mint.
