Waxing a diabetic - do you?

The reason why diabetes is a contraindication is because diabetics often suffer with lessened sensation. Pain is the body's way of telling you there's soomething not quite right, and if for example the wax is hot enough to burn the skin, the client might not necessarily be aware of this and...

I'm pregnant :) Oh, and advice wanted, lol!

Thanks for your response :) I'm studying for my Complementary Therapy degree at the moment, and I've been assured it's okay for me to handle the oils as they aren't readily absorbed into the palms. Only reason I was curious about when other geeks stopped doing vigorous massage is because I...

I'm pregnant :) Oh, and advice wanted, lol!

Hi all :) Two weeks ago I found out I'm pregnant, and despite a very rough fortnight, I'm now getting used to the idea of having a lovely little creature that's mine all mine :green: I just wanted to ask, are there any modifications I should make at work? I do a lot of swedish massage, and...

    Promoting Facials

We've done an offer throughout September where they buy a facial and receive a free 30 minute back massage. The massage normally costs £20 on it's own so it's a massive perceived discount to the client, but cost our salon only 30mins wages wise for me, and a dribble of oil :) Have had many...

    staff problems

What a nightmare for you :( That does seem rather hard faced of him. I'm a therapist myself, not an owner, and clients do build up a certain loyalty to their therapist. If the clients would prefer to go to him, there is not much you can do; every client is entitled to a choice over where he/she...

So Excited I have booked a Course!!

You'll really enjoy it if you like fiddly stuff as I do :) Can be very therapeutic, arranging lashes on the little rods! Unfortunately we don't offer perming at our practice, but we do get a lot of tints :) A little tip that you might not learn on the course: when the lash tint is developing...

    Solar comedones

Yes, they are called milia and are sometimes caused by severe dehydration of the skin, as I learnt last night at my aromatherapy class :)

    GHD mk 4

I have very dry, frizzy hair and find that my Ghds, with the right product, do the job better than anything else and still manage to leave my hair silky smooth. I'm afraid anything more expensive would have to be delivered by Mr Pitt himself to make it worth it for me :green:

    GHD mk 4

HQ Hair have a great deal on, where you buy the straighteners and a box of three or four Tigi products. Great for christmas presents if you don't need them yourself. If you go through Quidco, you can get cashback too. Hth x

    Ok been avoidng this but...website

Excellent site, well done for posting the link :) Some great comments made by other geeks. The only thing that I noticed was on the home page you alternate between 'I' and 'We'. Just doesn't sound right to me...just my opinion :) Otherwise, it's a great website. Love the colour scheme.

    Solar comedones

What an elightening thread this is! I've never come across this type of comedone either. Would you just treat them as if they were regular comodones? I expect you'd have to be very careful on an elderly client if you were using a comedone extractor...those things hurt!! Do let us know how you...

    PHD Waxing

I use the Phd system for all my waxing, really wouldn't use anything else. It's so quick and easy to use, and my clients love the fact that it shows I care about their health.

    Donington Holistic/Beauty show this weekend?

Anyone know anything about this? A guy on my degree course mentioned it yesterday, he said it was the biggest Holistic show in the country. But was otherwise rather vague :green: Anyone going?

    Tan going scale like!

I think Dove is super alkaline or something, so it strips the tan because it disturbs the acid mantle of the skin. Think I remember hearing this explanation somewhere, but I'm not 100%.

    Male Clients

Unfortunately, there's not a lot we can do as therapist to discourage this kind of behaviour, all we can do is make ourselves as safe as possible by setting the boundaries of what we will and won't do as politely and firmly as possible, and ensuring our safety when alone with male clients...

Desperate for help with Adult Acne

I'm in exactly the same situation..I'm 21 and have had constant acne for 11 years. In the past I've found products that help, but not totally cleared it. The best results I've got are from Liz Earle's cleanse and polish, and the Stone Crop Gel Wash by Eminence, which has the added advantage of...

    saggy bags under eyes

Gentle pumping around the cheek bone from the nose outwards should help to relieve it too. Make sure only the ring finger if being used, least pressure.
