I can do nails on other poeple ok. there obviously not excellent. but there good. everyones been really pleased with them, I have a few areas I need to touch up on. i.e filing the sides more so the nails arent as wide.

but on myself. my nails are getting worse and worse, there lifting loads around the edges, I tried YNs frosted pink yesterday which is a speed product, I'm using core as i'm training, so it dried so fast, but i kept it wet like they said and managed to get it all round my nail, but a bit chipped off on one nail, so I added to it like they showed us, and now two of my nails have a big cracked effect in the pink, and one is lifting and chipped at the side, and i havnt even started on the other hand yet...

so is it true.... do you get worse before you get better.. or is this just not for me?

xx

Its always harder to do your own, I usually get lifting on my own wrong hand just as the control is not there for me, but on my clients I now get no lifting and very few if any breaks and they look nice too. but when I was training I could of given up very easily with the amount of lifting and dodgy looking nails I produced but tho I am still no expert, still very new to nails, I am very pleased with my work and my clients are happy too which is what counts.

Don't be so hard on yourself, it will all click into place, get a nail trainer if you don't already have one as this will mean you can practice till your heart is content and you don't need to wait for willing hands. Not the same as real hands but very useful.

I don't know if you actually get worse before you get better but you do get disapointed when something doesn't work or it goes wrong, so it might seem like it is but its all learning at the end of the day so you can progress and move on.

Chin up and keep practicing. hth. Claire x

I have been doing l&p nails for 11 years and some days I feel like a rookie. I have days where I can't get my mix ratio right to save my life.. I chalk it up to Murphy's Law and keep on moving.

It is really difficult to do your own nails, especially with l&p, but it will get better. I learned doing my own, so I am lucky enough to do my own better than I do others. Having said that, I have one finger that ALWAYS lifts no matter what I do - so I just accept it!

L&P has a tougher learning curve than gel, but is so much easier to use when you finally get it. I love the product and will never give it up. I love the creative, artistic side to producing a beautiful set of sculptured nails and feel so proud when I am finished.

Keep up the practice - it will come.
