Just wanted to ask all you experts a quick question.

Is there such a thing as "generic" aftercare advice?

I'm thinking of things like waxing, hair extensions, nails etc etc.

OR does it vary a lot from practitioner to practitioner?

I'll come clean as to why I'm asking. I'm thinking of doing "pre-made" aftercare sheets for lots and lots of disciplines and would then basically redesign them as and when people picked them "off the shelf" to match people's colours and brands etc....It'd basically be a (cheaper) way for people who aren't fantastic with words to get a really well written (and legally protective) document.

My thinking was the information might be quite uniform as you're (in the main) getting trained in similar fashions.

In the end I might even pay people (or at least bribe them with design work!) who are "experts" to write those aftercare sheets for me.

OR.......is there no such thing and it's a rubbish idea :)

GREAT IDEA! this was something that is on my to get list! i think most aftercare is generic! When you do certain training you get given an example of the aftercare, but with their branding! having it in your own design supports your brand!! looks very professional IMO x

Most aftercare is pretty generic and I think this idea is a great one :)

Having just had my own aftercare sheets done with you I can tell you how much of a pain it was trying to write them all !! I would have jumped at the chance of pre made ones :) !!

It is also a insurance requirement for many people so I think you would do well with this product :)

Some companies even have there own aftercare leaflets , but they do tend to be very expensive and not personal to a business

Best of luck with it Carl I'm sure it will do well :)

Well- oddly enough Noreen I was thinking of yours when I was pondering the idea! they're concise and well written. I was just wondering how much of it was 100% specific to you though.

I have an aftercare sheet which was forwarded to me by Geeg. I have then personalised it slightly and recently added my lovely logo which you created for me :D

I'd say yes there is generic basic aftercare advice that could be used for lots of treatments and I think it could work having all the basic information written & laid out nicely then just change things a little to fit the persons branding.

Hi Carl,

My aftercare sheet from shellac was taken from geegs aftercare sheet that she kindly emailed to me , I did change it slightly and condensed parts of it to suit me but the words are mainly hers :) She will more than likely have a problem with you using her exact words as they are meant for shellac users only and no doubt you will be catering to everyones needs, however i don't think it would be too hard to draft up something similar that will suit all gel polish users :)

The aftercare for waxing and spray tanning was a bit of a mis mash of a few other peoples aftercare sheets with my own twist added, I had a look and a good few peoples aftercare designs and chose elements that i liked and didn't like and formed my own this way. Everyone is going to be different i suppose , but what i noticed from reading everyone else aftercare was that it didn't include everything and could sometimes be a bit vague. In my opinion the aftercare sheet should cover it all as it is something that is taken home with the client and can be read many times etc. I keep the condensed aftercare for verbal and then will hand them the aftercare sheet for them to read in there own time.

What is specific to me and my aftercare sheet were my products recommend section at the back, this will obviously change with every client you have as they will all be selling something different and using different brands etc … Maybe you could offer this service as an extra because I have no doubts that this element will boost my retails sales. Word of warning to anyone thinking of doing this , ask for all you high res pictures well in advance … they are a nightmare to get hold of :)

I think advice is pretty generic for most treatments.

Good idea :)

Jemima :)

Carl, this is actually on my to do list as well. I do have one specific to my business and which I did on an A4 paper but its high time to go all the way :)
And well done Noreen.

As a home salon do my own aftercare sheets. I uploaded a design for a 'note pads' to Vista print. They are about a6 size, with my header and logo on them. I then just put individual sheets through my printer and print out aftercare instructions.

If you private message Geeg with you sweet squared account number she will forward the sheet onto you herself. If you are not registered with sweet squared I'm afraid she will not send it.

you can happily have my massage aftercare info to use! it covers most holistic and massage therapies - (that's what i specialise in - so im sure other geeks can give you better ones for lashes etc x x

Is it possible for someone to send me the aftercare sss

Sheet please as I'm trying to do this too, thanks :) xx

Might be helpful to call up all the different salon insurance providers and ask them what information they would require from a consultation form.
Perhaps go one step further and ask if they would endorse your forms?
