I know i covered this in my training 8 years ago but i cannot for the life of me remember what causes it...

I had a client come for refills and i noticed a large white air pocket kinda thing right in the centre of her nail toward the free edge on two of her nails (one broke off in a 1/2 circle). I havent had this happen before, what causes it and what is the best procedure for it?

I know for a while i was using a different primer and the last 2 refills have been fine since going back to my old primer.

Thanks in advance :)

Maybe it was the primer.. did you do your prep correctly?..
I know a fe times i just got distracted and forgot a step and paid for it later with problems..
Just a thought. some of the more expereinced geeks will help you more.

what your describing is usually pocket lifting - where the product has shrunk due to wet mix ratio and caused the overlay to put stress on the nail plate and 'pop' up - this happens at the centre as this is where the stress transfers...

However as you have changed primer, I would say it is not able to bond properly to the system you are using, causing the same resulting loss of adhesion at the stress point..

The lesson here:

The chemists who develop systems make each product to work with the others in their system - mixing and matching products and brands will cause unexpected and unpredictable results...
