as a nail tech I love making other people's hands pretty but doing my own is such a drag. Hate it with a passion. And I find my right hand is just a pain to do. I'm right handed. And I do L&P. Then either buff it up with the glossing file or maybe a shellac. I do this task over the space of a few days. Long!! But I've discovered I'm really terrible at placing my beads on my right hand. Awful!! I look like an absolute melon. I end up pushing it too far up.. Hitting cuticles and so on. Show us your 'bad hand' and any good tips on how to deal with doing our own bad hand xx

My best tip is to do the hand you write with first, while you're fresh and less frustrated.

I can apply my L&P ok-ish, it's filing I struggle with - all the angles are wrong and I overfile the right side too much. My squovals end up round on one side and wonky. I've trained myself not to look so hard at them and critise them all the time. They are what they are and only I see the imperfections

I kind of just hold the file in my left hand (I'm right handed) and then my move my right hand back and forth in a crescent sort of shape against it rather than move the file

Easiest way is if someone asks to see your nails only give them your good hand!! Xxx

I'm Defo going to do the right hand first whilst I'm fresh good tip!!
And yes my filing is so bad too I don't know what angle to put my file at to get the right place. I end up filing too much on my left side. I don't know how! I have to go back and pick up another bead it's like torture and going round in circles!!

When I file my wrong hand, I move my hand and not the file. Gives me more control.

Good hand [emoji651]️[emoji651]️
My bad hand is too wide and thick I can't seem to thin it out properly

When I file my wrong hand, I move my hand and not the file. Gives me more control.[/

Ive done this [emoji85]I thought it was due to the lack of strength in my left hand to move the file

Pretty clear which my bad hand is today. Wasn't attempting freestanding straight lines!!!

Look at that terrible overfilling

This is my 'bad' hand...

I always feel I must use the wrong pressure on the beads as the nails end up flatter and I have to do 4 beads rather than my usual 3...
